Laxmi puja!

The windows have been cleaned, the floors mopped and the terrace swept and scrubbed. All-up the house has been given a thorough sprucing. It is the third day of Tihar and we want Goddess Laxmi to feel enticed to visit our homes. To feel welcome and happy. To want to bestow us with good fortune and prosperity over the coming year.
To help her find her way, homes are bedecked with garlands of lights; doorsteps are decorated with rangoli; candles and lamps are placed in doorways. Windows and doors are left open throughout the night so she can get in.
In the streets groups of young people visit homes singing songs as they go. They’re extending blessings to the homeowners and offering wishes for prosperity; in return they receive money, sweets and food.
My wish is that Laxmi finds her way to your home, and the homes of those you love. May she shower you with with health, prosperity and success! May you be as blessed with good fortune as I feel right now.
