Today is Kukur Tihar. It’s the day that man’s best friend receives special treatment as an acknowledgement of the important role they play in Hindu mythology.
Adorned with tika and flower garlands.
Offered tasty treats.
Showered with love and affection.
My usual 20 minute walk to work took twice as long because of photo opportunities!
It is the second of the five day festival known generally in Nepal as Tihar and as Swanti to the Newar people. The next three days are public holidays and I was tempted to head off somewhere for some trekking or sightseeing, but I’ve had several invitations from colleagues to visit their homes for tika ceremony and meals – unique and special opportunities that I don’t want to miss. Stay tuned for stories and visuals!

OMG max! This is entirely delightful your blog! I’m sorry it’s taken me so long to sign up. The photos and stories are so RICH ! I feel enlivened this morning just reading a few. What beautiful experiences you’re having! Very much love and I’ll catch up on notecards stories soon. 💜🔆
